Working with Network Rail

New high-speed services will use the existing railway network, branching off the new HS2 line at Lichfield and at Crewe on to the West Coast Mainline, to serve Liverpool, Manchester and Scotland.

We are working with Network Rail and industry partners to make sure that current railway infrastructure is ready for these new services.  Some of those key activities are as follows:

• We are looking at where we need to make station enhancements to deliver our customer vision at existing stations, which will enable a seamless high-speed operation.
• The timetable that will need to be in place to deliver faster journey times and more capacity across our regions.
• Supporting the introduction of the new high-speed trains.
